99.87% uptime probably sounds like we're up most of the time, and that's true. Basically, that translates to a total of 12 hours of downtime per year ... vs 8748 hours of uptime per year.

On the other hand, you might ask why our (or your) server needs to go down for 12 hours per year. It's usually for good things, actually -- hardware upgrades, software upgrades -- things you'll be glad we're doing because in most cases they improve your site's performance or make it possible to increase your site's functionality.
