The ESS 1688 driver included with Windows 95 is optimized for getting the best performance from the ESS 1688 chip in your 5200 /mint.
If for whatever reason you wish to use a different driver than the ESS 1688 driver, we recommend the Soundblaster Pro driver that ships with Windows 95. You will need to enter the settings manually if you force Windows 95 to use this driver.
Note: If you need the correct settings to enter for the SoundBlaster Pro driver), go into your CMOS setup by pressing Cntl-Alt-S when prompted, during the first 10 seconds of your notebook's power-up routine. You will find the values you need under Components / Audio IO/IRQ/DMA.
