#529: Low battery sensor "too sensitive."

Note: this design fault was discovered very recently, on a limited production run of non-P version 5200's (serial #'s prior to 617...). There is one and only one way to see if you have one of these machines: see how long your machine will beep (indicating a "low battery" condition) before it actually shuts off. If it beeps for longer than 10 minutes straight, follow the procedure below. Otherwise, do NOT follow the procedure below or you may lose your battery low sensor function completely!

WARNING: If you do not have experience assembling notebook computers, please leave this task to a qualified technician, or send the notebook to Micro International to be serviced by a factory authorized technician.

Symptom: Battery low beep goes on for longer than 10 minutes before system actually shuts off due to lack of battery power.

Solution: Replace R182 (a 120k resistor on the faulty machines) with a 127k resistor. Note: when part of the circuit, the faulty resistor should test as 65k. The replacement resistor should test around 69k as part of the circuit. Test the resistance with the system TURNED OFF!
